The immigrants went through unimaginable pains in the face of war. They survived their own unique hardships such as having lost their homes, being forced to fight against their countries of origin, etc.

Meanwhile, even in the middle of this nightmarish warfare, they worked hard and saved quite a few people's lives. I think that their achievements marked an important event in the history of immigrants.
