Japan's most famous LGBTs (at least as far as we know) are the cross-dressers and transsexuals who appear on our TV screens almost daily. They might be seen as positive role models in that they give the LGBTs watching them something to aspire to in terms of living openly gay lives and making a career in the entertainment industry. Furthermore, and as a constant presence on geinoujin panel shows (along with the foreigner, the comedian, the glamour girl, etc), there may be an even higher percentage of LGBTs on our screens than there is in Japanese society generally

日本で一番有名な（少なくとも私たちが知る限り）LGBTの人たちとは、ほとんど毎日TV画面で見られるクロスドレッサー（※1）や性転換をした人たちです。

こういう人々は、彼らを見るLGBTの人たちに、ゲイであることを公言した生活をして（※2）エンターテイメント業界でキャリアを積むという観点から何か刺激を与えるという意味でプラスの役割を果たすモデルと見なされるかもしれません。さらに、（外国人やコメディアン、グラマーな女の子などと共に）常連の芸能人パネリストとして現れることで一般的に日本社会での存在よりも画面上でのLGBTの割合はさらに高いかもしれません。

※1：cross-dresser
男装・女装両方を含めて社会的外見としての自分と反対の性の洋服を身にまとう人のことです。
※2：openly gay lives
openly gayはそのままオープンリーゲイという言い方になっていますが、「ゲイであることを誰に対しても明らかにしていることを表す」という意味です。
