名詞としての「診察」は英語では「ナニ」と言えばよろしいでしょうか？

名詞としての「診察」に対応する英語として、日本の辞書等では一般的に次のような用語が挙げられています:
　medical examination (or checkup)
　physical examination (or checkup)

しかし上記のような用語は「健診(健康診断)」とか「集団検診」などの意味でも使われますので、「お変わりないですか？　念のため血圧を測っておきましょう」程度の日常の軽い「診察」には適切ではなく、"(clinical) consultation"あたりの方がよろしいのではないかと思いますが、我々日本人には"consultation"もまたオーバーな表現という感じがいたします。そこで"routine clinical checkup"なんてのも考えてみたのですが、他に何か適切な表現はございますでしょうか？

「日常の軽い診察」 はよく routine physical (checkup) と言います。

checkup は省くことが多いと思います。２ヶ月ほどまえ Trump 大統領が病院に診察に行ったのがニュースで取り上げられ彼は「軽い」を強調するため "very routine physical"　だったと話しています。

Doctor visit はどうでしょうか。

別の質問で、「やっと診察が終わった！」というのに回答したときに、やっと　というからには、いろんな検査があったのかなと思って、My physical exams と回答したような気がします。

日本の大学病院あたりで受診しますと、「三時間待って三分間診療」と言うようなことになりますので、「やっと終わった」と言いたくなるのも無理はありませんね。まあ、あの質問ではどのような診察かは判断のしようがありません。

言わずもがなかもしれませんが、vital signsやvitalsをLet us check your vitalsのように使うので、これも軽い診察という意味に使えると思います。
