SEVISステータスについて

アメリカ留学経験のある方、学生ビザに詳しい方へ質問です。
私は現在アメリカ滞在中の留学生です。
先週17日に語学学校を卒業し、4月4日からカナダはトロントの語学学校へ入学します。
卒業後60日以内に出国、期間が5ヶ月以内であれば、またアメリカで復学できるとの情報を元にこの決断をし、現在の学校担当者にも確認を得ました。
しかし先週末になって、同担当者からカナダの学校へ入学した場合、留学期間に関係なく学生VISAは失効されると言われました。
再度自分でも米国大使館のサイトで調べましたが、やはり上記の条件を守れば復学は可能だとあります。

ただSEVISステータスについて見落としていたので、もしかしてこの件に何か関わりがあるのかと思っています。
ちなみに在学中は成績・出席ともに問題ありませんでした。

That's because Canada is a part of the North America. It's a neighbor to the US. As the respondent #1 explains, staying in Canada will NOT be considered as the departure from the US. To keep your visa sticker (put on your passport) valid for your future schooling in the US, you need to get out of the North America once within 60 days after the completion of your SEVIS record and obtain a valid I-20 from US school within 5 months. If you keep staying within the region, you will need to obtain a valid I-20 from any accredited school in the US no later than 60 days after the completion of your SEVIS record. Again, your current student visa is NOT applicable to the schools in Canada. You should be allowed to study in Canada no longer than a couple of months. Otherwise, you will jeopardize your immigration status.

If you are planning to go to school by crossing the border, you will probably need to obtain a Canadian student visa. Your current student visa (I assume it's a F1 visa) is valid only in the US. Since you have finished your school in the US, the ISS will process your completion of the program to finalize your F1 status within a couple of weeks. If you have no intension to study in the US after the completion of your program, your 60-day grace period will become effective the next day after your graduation date. If you spend more than 2 months for your schooling in Canada, your student visa will be automatically void. Moreover, you will likely become out-of-status if you don’t have a valid Canadian student visa for your new school. 5-month period is NOT applicable in this case. It's mainly for those who will be leaving the US in the midst of regular semester.

ご質問の意味が良くわかりません。

アメリカの語学学校を卒業後、カナダに渡るのはわかりますが、その後いつアメリカの学校に再留学する予定なのでしょうか？

F-1ビザの5か月インターバルルール（5ヶ月経つとビザが失効する）は、以下の通りです。

・　アメリカの学校に在学中（SEVIS継続中）あるいは、トランスファー手続きを取っている（SEVISはpending中）の場合は「5ヶ月以上アメリカを離れている」場合。
・　アメリカの学校をいったん終了（SEVIS終結）した場合は「SEVISを持たない空白期間が5ヶ月以上」たつ場合（「アメリカを離れた期間が5ヶ月」ではありません）

語学学校を卒業（修了？＝最後までプログラムを全う）した場合は、その日から5ヶ月のカウントが始まります。（グレイスピリオド期間も5ヶ月の中にカウントされています）
また、まだ次の学校が決まっていない（入学許可を得ていない）ようですから、あなたのSEVISはcompleteされているはずです。

この場合、あなたがビザの再取得の必要がないのは、語学学校を卒業した日から5ヶ月以内（8月半ばころ？）に開始されるプログラムに参加する場合です。その場合、SEVISのtransferはしていないので、新規のSEVIS(I-20)を発行されますからSEVIS費を支払う必要はあります。アメリカに入国できるのも、新規留学の時と同様プログラム開始日から30日以内前からになります。

問題なのは、カナダのようにアメリカと大陸続きの隣国への出国は「アメリカ出国」とみなされない点でしょう。
通常であれば、30日以内のカナダ滞在の場合、カナダに渡るときに「出国」の印が押されず、再入国もそのままできてしまいます。
アメリカ・カナダの国境の空港で、みずから入管に申し出て必ず出国をした証を残さないと、あなたはまだF-1ビザのグレイスピリオド最中扱いにない、そのまま60日を超えてカナダに滞在し続けていると「オーバーステイ」扱いになりかねません。

ご察しのとおりアメリカでの転校先はまだ決めておらず、
カナダで就学中に考えようと思っていました。

つまり私の場合
卒業日から5ヶ月以内であればアメリカのプログラムに参加可能だが、
再度SEVIS費を支払いI-20を新たに取得する必要がある。
またカナダ入国前に、空港でアメリカ出国手続きが必須ということでしょうか？
