at とin の違い

at the school と in the schoolの違いとはなんですか？

どちらも「学校で」という意味になると思うのですが。

ちなみに、ですが、

Children go to school.
I went to the school in order to attend a PTA meeting.

前者は「学びの場」としての学校に行くの意味
校舎は、『建物」としての学校に行く、の意味。

同様に、
I go to hospital once a week.
I went to the hospital to visit my friend.

in the schoolと聞くと、「学校の敷地／建物の中」という感じがします。

in the buildingやin the house.

at the schoolは、「施設としての学校」という感じがします。
at homeやat the airport

例えば、
My friend will meet me at the airport （空港で友達が出迎えてくれる）
I will sleep in the airport tonight（今晩は、空港で眠る）

違いがわかりますか？

at は、「点」ですから、

Where are you, at home?「あなたは、どこにいるの、家？」と聞かれた時の答え。

in　は、入れ物の「中」ですから
　Where are you, outside the school?「あなたは、どこにいるの、学校の外？」と聞かれたときの答え。

　で次の違いがお分かりでしょう。
１。 I am at Mary's
２。　 I am in Mary's
