アーティストとしてトレーニングを積む一方で、レオナルドはまた、その時新しい絵画の手法を学び、上達させました。
ここで、on relatively が分かりません・・・。どういう解釈になるのでしょうか？

once coveredがわからないです…。そもそも訳が間違っているかもしれません。

この絵はレオナルドがルーラーとミランの人々にitを明確にするのを助けた。
that以降のthatはなんでしょうか？　関係代名詞？だとしたら先行詞はclear?

・He designed the painting to look like it was part of the room.
彼は絵画をデザインした。部屋の一部のようなモノを見るためである。　
こういうことでしょうか？　どうも違う気がするのですが・・・。

・It is from him that the painting takes its Italian name, “La Gioconda.”
from himは副詞節ですか？単純に意味がわかりません…。

・“May God Almighty grant him eternal peace. Every one laments the loss of a man, whose like Nature cannot produce a second time.”

こちらは頭のMayで躓いてしまいました・・・。意味を教えて下さい。

relatively はnew にかかって「比較的新しい」ということで、on はその前のimproved とつながってimprove on で「～をよりよいものにする」ということになります。

原文はこれですね。
＞He soon received attention for his extraordinary artistic skills. Around fourteen seventy-five he was asked to draw an angel in Verrocchio’s painting “Baptism of Christ.” One story says that when Verrocchio saw Leonardo’s addition to the painting, he was so amazed by his student’s skill, that he said he would never paint again.
ヴェロッキオの「キリストの洗礼」の絵にレオナルドが天使を描くように言われたんですね。でもヴェロッキオはそのレオナルドの描いた部分を見たとき、自分の生徒であるレオナルドの技術のすごさにもうびっくり仰天、自分は二度と絵は描かないと言った、という話がある、ということですね。

ですので、Leonardo’s addition to the painting　は「その絵へのレオナルドの加筆」ということです。

身体構造が正確であるように、まずは裸で絵を描いて（そうすれば変なところから手が出たりということはなくなりますね）、後で服を上に塗り重ねて描いた、ということだと思います。

relatively new「比較的新しい」すなわち、全く新しい、のではなく、どちらかと言えば、新しい。improved on は、彼が自分の腕を「上達」させたのではなく、かれがその技術を「改善した」のでしょう。

２。一説では、弟子のレオナルドが書き加えた絵があまりに素晴らしいのに感心して、師のヴェロッキオは、自分はもう二度と絵筆は取らないと言ったと伝えられる。

３。彼は、その絵の中の多くの人物を（初めは）裸の姿で描いた、後で衣類を着せた場合、体が正確に描かれている事を確かめたかったからである。

４。この絵は、ミラノの君主と住民に、レオナルドが非常に独創的で、優れた画家である事を、明らかにするのに役立った。
