そこで、省略語を埋めると以下のようになります。
I hope it’s the closest I get to facing death for a few more decades.

強いて2文にするなら、以下のようになると思います。
I hope it's the closest.
I get the closest to facing death for a few more decades.

これも前のと同じで，

the closest で一種名詞的な感覚というのが１つ。

I get close で「近づく」という close が関係代名詞 that に置き換わる。
補語的なものが関係代名詞に置き換わる場合，限定用法なら that が基本。
目的格なら省略可。

for は for a few more decades のように，期間の for として後につながっています。

get の後にあるはずの close が置き換わっています。
