ところが、これは不正解。「7秒の余韻がカットされる」ということは、つまり「テレビの前にいる視聴者が、笑い終わって落ち着く時間がカットされる」ということだからです。
自分の笑いが収まっていないと、その後に続くトークに集中できません。すると、次の面白いエピソードの話し始め、つまり話の「フリ」の部分をちゃんと聞けていない。
結果として、「オチ」を聞いても話がきちんと伝わらず、「完璧の面白いトーク」とは思ってもらえない。笑いが1つ死んでしまうことになるのです。
視聴者側の気持ち、生理を無視してしまう編集とはこういうことです。自分がカットしやすいところでカットすると、笑いのために必要な間を殺すことにつながるのです。

However, this is not the right answer. That the seven seconds of after-echo were eliminated means that the viewer in front of the television set is deprived of the time to finish laughing and settle down.

If one is not through laughing, the viewer cannot concentrate on the subsequent story. Then the opening part of the next story is not properly heard.

As a result, the punch line does not have the proper punch, and the full impact of the following story is lost on the viewer, who never thinks the next one was an ultimate joke. In a word a joke is killed.

This is what I mean by editing that ignores viewers' feeling and physiological reaction. When cutting is done where an editor thinks a cut should be made, it leads to killing the time needed for full laugher.
