No. 1 では、少し言い間違えました。

実際には、They have also ★proven★ to prevent... も間違いのようです。再び、今回の課題文とその直前の文とを続けて示します。

僕が知る限りでは、上のような英文は間違いです。これは、
They have also ●proven● to prevent....
と書きたかったものだと思います。

以上のようなことは、辞書を見てもわかると思います。少なくとも「ジーニアス英和、第6版」を見ても
show [something, someone] to [do something]
などという言い回しが可能だとは書いていません。書いているのは
show [something] (to be) [補語]
という言い方ができるということだけです。

そして僕自身も、そんな言い回しを洋書や新聞雑誌や論文や教養書の中で見たことがありません。もちろん、僕が実際に見たことがないとはいえ、そういう言い回しが存在しないとは断言できませんが、もし僕の言うことに対する反証を見つけた方がおられれば、どうかそれを見せて頂きたいと思います。
