material to hold together its nest, made from spider cocoons and covered with hook-like projections. The bird produces a bag out of these silks loops and the plant hooks like Velcro. The birds start with a nest that's small and then they lay eggs in it. As the chicks grow, the nest needs to grow-and what is amazing is that this materiel actually expands. As compared to human made Velcro, this nest is much more stretchy.

ベニュスは、クモの繭で作られフック状の突起で覆われた巣を、ベルクロのような素材でひとつにまとめることで知られているヤブガラという鳥のひとつの種にも注目しています。

この鳥は生糸の網目状のものとベルクロのような植物で出来たフックで袋を作ります。まだ袋が小さい時に巣作りをはじめ、その中で卵をうみます。雛が成長するにつれ、巣も大きくする必要があります。そして面白いことにこの素材は実のところ伸びるのです。人間が作ったベルクロと比較するとこの巣はもっとはるかに伸縮性があります。
