英文が上手く訳せない

I would like to teach the game of go to elderly people in nursing homes. Go is fun for everybody, young and old. It's not difficult to teach go to elderly people if you have the knack. I do, because it was I who taught go to my grandparents, not the other way round.
(goは碁のことです)

上記英文の最後の一文"I do, because it was I who taught go to my grandparents, not the other way round. "が上手く訳せません。ご教示くださいますよう、お願いいたします。

「高齢者たちに碁を教えるのは難しくはない。コツさえ知っていれば。私はコツを知っている。というのは、祖父母に碁を教えたのは私だからだ。祖父母が私に教えたのではなく(/祖父母から教わったのではなく)。」

表現を洗練(I hope)して

「コツさえわかれば、お年寄りに碁を教えるのはそんなに難しくありません。私はそのコツを得ています。というのも、私が祖父母に碁を教えたからです。普通は逆（祖父母が孫に教えるもの）でしょうけどね。」

* I do = I have the knack
not the other way round = (it is) not my grandparents (who taught go to) me

やはり I do は I have the knackを受けていたのですね。はじめ、because it was I who taught go to my grandparentsが挿入された形だと思いまして、I do not the other way round.を訳してみようとしたのですが、動詞が･･･となってしまいました。

その前の文章で、「コツがあれば年配者に碁を教えることは難しくない」とあります。

それを受けての文章ですから、
「私にはできます。祖父に碁を教えたのが私ですから、逆になること（＝年配者から碁を教えられること）はありません。」と訳せます。

ここの部分なのですが、年配者とは、私の祖父母のことではなく、老人ホームのお年寄りのことでしょうか。
