英語:和訳

英語のワークをしていて、どうしても和訳が上手くいかないところがあったので、ここに相談しにきました( ；´Д｀)
誰か教えてください。お願いします(＞＜;)

・These days it is fashionable to take about Japan's aging crisis.By now everyone knows the scenario.Early this century,people 65 or over will make up a quarter of the population.Worse yet,it is assumed that all these old people will be sick and their medical bills and pensions will become a burden on society.

　「今日日本の高齢化問題を取り上げることが流行っている。今では誰でもその内容を知っている。今世紀の初頭には、人口の４分の１が６５歳以上ということになるだろう。困ったことに、それらの年配者が病気になるかもしれず、彼らに対する医療費や年金が社会にとっての負担になることだろうと考えられている」

all these old people will be sick and ... の部分は、「すべてのこれらの年取った人々は病気だろう」 と解すより、if all these old people will be sick then ... という文だとみなす方がいいと思う。

worse yet は直訳すれば 「さらに悪いことに」
fashionable は 「ファッショナブルだ」 → 「流行だ」 と解釈した。
scenario は 「シナリオ」 であるが、「シナリオ」 は、それを読めば映画やドラマの内容が分る。だから 「成り行き」 「将来の事態」 という意味で用いられていると解釈できる。

最近、日本の高齢化問題がひんぱんに取りざたされている。

予想される事態は、もう誰もが知るところとなっている。今世紀の初頭には、65歳以上は総人口の25％を占める。さらに悪いことに、これら老年層は病気になり、その医療費と年金が社会にとって負担になると推測されている。
