文の書き換え

お願いします。


次の文をnot,no,nothingなどの否定を表す語を使わないで
意味が同じとなる英文に書き換えなさい。

They do not believe anything except what they see.



=> They believe everything that they see.
They believe anything that they see.

の２つ考えましたが？

に対して、

は、あり得る書き換えです。ですから、間違いとは言えません。

　ただ、except（を除けば）のニュアンス的には、ちょっと相違を感じます。論理的には、「見たものを（事実と）全て信じる」かどうかは、保証の限りではなさそうです。

　元の英文の単語を活かすとなれば、書き換えの文のeverything/anythingをsome things（somethingではない）にすることが考えられます。

　しかし、それもどうも違和感が残ります。そこで、たとえばonlyを使うと以下のようにできます。

　They only believe what they see.

　もう一つのやりかたは、not believeと、ほぼ同じ意味になる動詞（句）で書き換えることです。

　They doubt anything except what they see.

とか

The only thing (that) they believe is what they see.

でも良いと思います。
