主節→従属節 VS 従属節→主節。 片方は間違い？

○：Because he wanted to see what made things tick, Wally joined the band as a drummer.

×：Wally joined the band as a drummer, because he wanted to see what made things tick.

英語の授業で、上の文は正しくて、下の文は誤文だと習いました。　何故したの文は間違いなのでしょうか？

下の文では"because"の前の","が不要です。

"Wally joined the band as a drummer because he wanted to see what made things tick."
であれば正文です。

主節に繋がる従属接続詞の前には","が入りません。

ただ、上の文ではhe=Wallyならば、
"Because Wally wanted to see what made things tick, he joined the band as a drummer."
とする方が一般的でしょう。
