関係代名詞の whose があります。

I have a friend whose father is a doctor. という例が基本になります。
所有格の whose は father との関係で「～の」父親
であり、節内では is の主語になります。

I have a friend whose father I know very well.
であれば、whose father は I know の目的語となります。

所有格というのは、my や his を考えるとわかりますが、
「～の」と名詞とつながり、名詞自体は主語や目的語となります。

ここでも、a university professor を先行詞として、
「その教授の」（初期のアルツハイマーのための痴呆への）転落
と所有格「～の」でつながり、この名詞の中心が was portrayed ～の主語になります。

無理やり後ろから訳せば、
「映画『スティルアリス』で、その初期のアルツハイマーのための痴呆への転落が描かれた、
大学教授（としての役）

whose は日本語では訳しにくく、前から
彼女の役、大学教授としての、
その彼女の初期のアルツハイマーのための痴呆への転落が映画『スティルアリス』で描かれた
と見ていけばいいです。

２文に分けると、
