ならいいです。主格の関係代名詞は省略できません。

が普通かな。

No.1は
This is the furniture (which) belongs to my grandfather.
で間違いではないと思いますが。

「belong」は自動詞ですから、
This is the furniture belongs to my grandfather.
が正しい。

（２）Comparing to his brother, he is rather shy.

「compare」は他動詞ですから、
Compared to his brother, he is rather shy.

あるいは
Comparing him with his brother, he is rather shy.
が正しい。

（３）With night came, we went back home.

普通こうは言わない。
「With」は前置詞なので、これを生かすなら
With night, we went back home.

「接続詞」を使うなら、例えば
As night came, we went back home.
When night came, we went back home.
