所有格の関係代名詞whoseの書き換えについてです

先行詞が物の場合は、 whose の代わりに of which を用いて書き換えられるということで例文として、

This is the church whose tower is the tallest in the country.

= This is the church the tower of which is the tallest in the country.

と書いてありました。
ここで私は、書き換えた文の church と the の間に that が入っているのが省略されたのかなと勝手に思っているのですが、これはあっていますか？

that の省略などではありません。

This is the church.
＋
The tower of it is the tallest in the country.
（it ＝ the church）
で，it を which にする。
the tower of which でかたまりとして，そのまま
This is the church the tower of which is the tallest in the country.

これは教会だ。
どんな教会って，それの塔がこの国で一番高い（そういう教会）。

接続詞なく，先行詞と等しい部分を関係代名詞 which にしてつなぐ。
それだけ。

the tower of which で A of B「B の A」というかたまりとしているのが特徴。

of which the tower とする手もありますが，まれ。
