英作の添削お願いします

テレビと比べて、本はつつましやかですが、それだけに子供にとっては、わがままな対し方が可能です。
気に入った本をいつでも見られるし、ページを勝手に操る事も出来ます。

私の回答は

Compared with TV,books are not outstanding.
It is possible for children to do what they want to become of that.
children can read the book which they love whenever they want to read and turn over the pages whenever they want to.

書く時に「んーこの日本語はこういうことかな？」
（つつましやか→目立たない→not outstanding)
と自分の解釈で変えている所が多々あって
実際の入試の時にわかってもらえるかが心配です・・。
（目立たない→not outstanding は　間違いだ　とかではなくて、つつましやか→目だたない　と　した点）

books are humble とかでも良いかも。

２．It is possible for children to do what they want to become of that.
最後の部分は、what が　become の目的語になると言うことなのでしょうが、もっと簡単に考えて、
Kids can do whatever they like with books.でいいのでは。

３．children can read the book which they love whenever they want to read and turn over the pages whenever they want to.
whenever が入ったのはいいことです。they want to read は、to read が重複です。
They can read whatever books they like anytime and can turn a page as he likes.

この問題の出典が解りませんが先ず悪文を英訳することにご苦労様と言いたいですね。

わがままは、「気まま」に読み替えた方が良いかもしれませんね。
TVに対しては受け身ですが本に対しては「自分の意志で」対応できるということを言いたいのでしょうからself-willedのような表現を使ってはどうでしょう。
kidは、口語ではchildより遥かに多く使われますが学校（受験）英語で使って良いのかどうか最近の受験事情に詳しくないのですがちょっと疑問です。
つつましやかはquietあたりはどうでしょう？
「勝手に」は、#1の方の訳に有る様に「思い通りに」「自由に」ということですよね。

文法的な点から、訂正しました。

より日本語の感じを出したいなら、modest が適しているかもしれません。

全体として　文法的な間違いではないですが、what they　want / whenever they want が何度も繰り返されるので単調に思いました。

下記を適宜参考にされてください。

(When) compared to TV program, books are (somewhat) modest to enjoy. (In other words,/ From a different viewpoint), it can be said that books are more easily accessible from children/kids. They can enjoy reading their favorites anytime、and also (freely) turn over pages in their own ways.

私も繰り返しは微妙だなぁとおもってかいていたのですが
私の能力ではwhatever以外に思いつくものはありませんでした・・・。
実際入試で出た場合、それしか思いつかなかったら書くしかないじゃないですか？その場合、減点はされますでしょうか？

立場が逆ですが、この問題を京大の誰かが作ったのかそれとも何かの引用なのかご存知ですか？

それに、入試問題にこういう悪文はよく有るんですか？
問題を出す方は、わざとこういう悪文にしているんですか？

なかなか難しい要素を含んだ英作問題だと思いました。

最初、「つつましやか」はhumbleがよいと思いましたが、
「それだけに」という言葉とのつながりがしっくりきません。
つながりの良い言葉を捜さなければ、減点対象でしょう。

また、テレビと本(active vs passiveテレビは放送を流し続ける、本は読まれる)、
テレビと子供(active vs passiveテレビは放送を流し続ける、子供は受身的に見る)、
本と子供(passive vs active本は読まれる、子供は自分で文字を追う)、
という比較対照を考えると、「わがままな対し方」は文字通り訳すより、
activeと訳したほうがスタイルと、文意に沿う気がします。

a child, childrenどちらでも良いのですが、子供は不特定の一人で、性別を問わないので、
その後はchildren同様、theyで受けます。（childrenより、a childのほうがスタイルとして宜しいです。）
「勝手に」はテレビが視聴者のスピードに関係なく放送する、ということを踏まえて、
at their own speedとすると良いと思います。

They can read their favorite books whenever they feel like it,
and they can turn the pages at their own speed.

考えさせられる、面白い問題でした。
