「私は電車の中で読むために雑誌を買った」を英語にすると I bought a magazine to read it on the train. でいいでしょうか。

“I bought a magazine to read on the train.” の方が一般的ですね。

to read on the train / on the plane / on the bus など。

“it” を使う例：
I wanted to read it on
I would be able to read it on the computer
You just prefer to read it on your Kindle
You can choose your favorite book to read it on your Kindle.

不定詞の形容詞的用法
訳し方: ・・するための～
役割: 直前にある名詞を説明（修飾）する。

詳しい解説ありがとうございます。so that I could read it と which I would read の違いであることは分かるのですが、それを不定詞で表すのかが曖昧でした。to read it はあまり用いないのですね。普段は回答が主ですがあやふやな部分もあります。時折質問しますのでよろしくお願いします。

違いは下記のようになると思います。

１）I bought a magazine to read on the train. (形容詞的用法）電車で読むための雑誌
２）I bought a magazine to read it on the train.　（副詞的用法：目的を表す）電車で読むために（＝in order to read it on the train)

どちらも文法的には正しいと思いますが，１）のほうがすっきりしていると思います。
なお，in order toとした場合は　it　は必ず必要です。

回答ありがとうございます。I bought a magazine and read it のように結果では it をつけても、目的では付けないほうが自然なのでしょうね。参考にしたいと思います。

完全に間違いとは言いませんが、magazine to read の方が良いですね。

無駄なものはない方が良いのです。woman to marry her, room to enter into it, boy to play with him, tool to use it など変な文がいろいろ考えられます。
