英作文教えてください。

難しい英作文がよくわかりません。
[名著が名著であるのは、それらの著者や著作が、人間の社会や思想の奥深い
ところにある根源的なもの、本質的なものを捉えて、それを明白に照らし
出した点にある。]
in that～（～という点で）を使って書いてみました。
もっといい書き方を教えてください。
できれば添削もお願いします。

Great books are masterpices in that their authors and works catch fundemental
things and essential things lying in deepply in human society and their thought
and present them clearly.

この言いかえはやや不適切です。今回はmasterpieceの方を使って、反復させましょう。複数よりは単数の方が。"A masterpiece is a masterpiece ..."

「それらの著者や著作が」のように著者と著作を区別する判断に疑問を感じますが、それは置いといて、「著作」というのはその本で述べられている内容「著述」を示すものだと思います。"works"だと別の「著書」を示すことになります。たとえば"dissertation"という単語が当てはまると思います。先ほどの変更も反映して -- "... in that its author and the dissertation"

この場合"catch"より「capture」ですね。"fundamental things"、"essential things"はそれぞれ「the fundamentals」、「the essentials」と言い換えることができます。"... captures the fundamentals and the essentials"

「～の深いところにある」は「lie deep in ~」ともいいます。"human society and their thought"
ですがhumanは「人間の」という形容詞と使われているので次に"their thought"とするのは調和しないです。"human society and thought"でいいと思います。"... lying deep(ly) in human society and thought"

What it takes to be a great book lies in its character and author that successfully captured the fundamental and essential things presented in deep stage of human society and thoughts, and lighted them up clearly.
