この文は文法的に正しいでしょうか？
訳していただけませんでしょうか？
it は何を指しているのでしょうか？
もしitがなかったらどんな意味になるんでしょうか？

実使用上行われています。

目的語 it は文法的には "preparatory it" と呼ばれます。後ろの句を事前に it で表します。例文：
I find it difficult to talk to you.
I found it strange being in her house.
I would appreciate it if you would keep me informed.
I'll leave it to you to decide.
