showの意味

１、2008年、早大理系の第1問の第1文ですが、

Great business leaders have been shown to solve problems through integrative thinking( rather than conventional thinking).

とあります。参考書には「実業界の主要な指導者たちが（伝統的思考よりむしろ）総合的思考を通し問題を解決するのを私たちは見てきている」と訳されています。このあとの文脈からしても、こう訳すほかないと思うのですが、ここで受動態「been shown」をどう理解したらいいのか困惑しています。
ちなみに、能動態にするとすれば主語は何になるのでしょうか。

Great business leaders have been shown to solve problems through integrative thinking( rather than conventional thinking).

これは次のように置き換えられます。

It has been shown that great business leaders solve problems through integrative thinking( rather than conventional thinking).

「私たちは見てきている」は意訳だと思うのですが、ここでshowは「証明する」「示す」(参考URLの (他)2)の意味で使われています。この文だと長いので簡略化したものと思われます。
さらに、この場合、showは自動詞でも使えるので (参考URLの (自)1)、

It has shown that great business leaders solve problems through integrative thinking( rather than conventional thinking).

という文もあり得ると思います。

「seem」や「he is said to get married」のような文と見るわけですが、「shown」だと、どうも勝手がわるくて落ち着かないですが（笑）、理解の方向は定まりした
ジーニアスには

he showed himself to be stupid.

のような例文があるのですが、むしろ、例示くださった「It has been shown」を経由すると納得できそうです。

彼ら（=経営学の先生、経営アナリスト、等々？）は、実業界の主要な指導者たちが総合的思考を通して問題を解決することを明らかにしている。

「彼ら」としかいいようがないか、と思いましたが、いやまて「時代の流れ」「経済史的事実」が主語になりうるように思えてきました。
