My father has been reading the newspaper since this morning.

1. "How long have you and he been friends?" "We have been friends for five years."
2. "Since when have you been friends with him?" "We have been friends since five years ago."
1でよいのですが、２も可能です。

祖母が亡くなって１０年になります.
1. It is 10 years since my grandma passed away.
2. It has been 10 years since my grandmother died.
3. Ten years have passed since my grandma died.

私は次の土曜日までに研究レポートを完成しているでしょう。
I'll have completed my research paper by next Saturday.

"For five years."

I will have finished my research paper by next Saturday.
